Have you heard about Color Cop? Another great tool and this one is completely free!
A friend of mine put me on to this one and, like most people, I love free tools that make my life easy. OK , you've guessed from the spelling that Color Cop comes from America but that doesn't make it a bad thing.
This one simply lets you know what colour any particular pixel is (if you want/need to get that detailed). For most of what one sees on a screen, the colour is over an area so it's even easier just to click and hold on the "dropper", drag it to the area that you need to know what the colour is and it gives you both the "RGB" numbers and the "#" alpha-numerics.
Let your designer/printer/web developer know exactly what you want with this tool and be able to check them afterwards that they've actually followed your instructions.
